~ About Me ~
My qualification is BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I have now been working with clients for several years. I held the position of Placement Counsellor at Derby Women's Centre whilst I was still training, with my second placement being at New Dawn Counselling Centre in Beeston where I am now Chairperson and Counselling Practitioner working with a team of therapists and volunteers.
It is advantageous for my private clients to see me at New Dawn also, as the building is serene, welcoming, warm and friendly.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I am fully insured. I also hold a current and advanced DBS certificate.
I work within and adhere to the Ethical Frameworks of BACP and New Dawn.
Like all Counsellors and Psychotherapists I attend supervision monthly. It is important for me to attend training courses and seminars on a regular basis to keep up with theories, principles and current laws etc.
I trained to work integratively as I do not believe one size fits all.
Since qualifying I have trained in a technique called 'The Rewind Theory' which has had amazing results with those suffering from PTSD, both combat and otherwise.
My extra training has involved trauma and dissociation, attachment theory and the affect that trauma has on our bodies and our brain.
