Questions you may have about
'time for you therapy'
who can benefit from counselling?
Counselling/therapy may be beneficial to you for many reasons:
How long will I need counselling/therapy?
This depends on you and your individual needs.
Some clients may need only six to eight weeks of counselling to deal with a specific problem.
If there are long-term issues which may have started in childhood then I offer an open ended contract with reviews every six to eight weeks, this enables us to review our work together and maybe re-focus if necessary. It is not unusual for clients to be in therapy for more than a year if they feel that they need it.
An initial assessment will help me to find out a little about you and offer you several sessions to begin with. Therapy is a fluid and changeable process which is most beneficial on a weekly basis.
How long are sessions?
Each therapy/counselling session lasts for 50 minutes with ten minutes at the end to 'check out' (grounding, self-care).
How much does it cost?
I charge £20 for an initial assessment after our meeting and £35 per 60 minute session thereafter. My fees are extremely competitive. There is a £5 discount for NHS staff with a discount card.
I have comfortable rooms in Beeston, or Derby if preferred.
If I am unable to help you, I will do my very best to refer you to a Counsellor/Therapist who may be better suited to your needs.
Counselling/therapy may be beneficial to you for many reasons:
- you may be feeling anxious or depressed
- you may have low self-esteem or self-confidence
- you may have suffered a bereavement or separation from a loved one recently or in the past
- you may have been bullied or victimised at work or in the home recently or in the past
- are childhood issues such as abuse or neglect still affecting your life now?
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may be an issue from cumulative (constant and ongoing) trauma or a one off horrific event like rape, assault or a road traffic accident for instance
- you may have come to a point in life where you feel stuck or life is passing you by. Counselling may help you to work through 'feeling stuck' in order to move towards your potential or goal in life
- you may feel in crisis and feel that counselling/therapy could offer help through your issues
- there are many others reasons why you may seek counselling
